The New balance Fresh Foam Zante was (and is) one of our favorite road running shoe of the past two years – both in the first and second versions. The shoe we’re looking at today is one made to bring the lively and fun ride of the Zante to the trail and hopefully bring the speed and agility of its road counterpart with it. Let us introduce you to the New Balance Fresh Foam Gobi.

Looking for a shoe that caters to the right trail is something that a lot of people (like us) do, often having multiple shoes for specific applications. If you’re looking for a one-shoe quiver for all types of trails, this isn’t going to be that shoe on the rockier and more technical stuff. However, on smooth and flowing trails and single track, it’s tough to beat the playful feel of this shoe. We would love to see a burlier version of this shoe which has that playful midsole and peppy ride but with a rock plate and some deeper lugs. That could potentially fill that one-shoe quiver I keep mentioning.

The final thing that we’re going to mention is the price of the New Balance Fresh Foam Gobi. Recently we’ve been talking about how we’ve noticed an uptick in pricing across the board in the running shoe game HOWEVER, this shoe bucks that trend and we love it. Coming in at $94.99 we have to give HUGE props to New Balance for making a solid shoe that isn’t even in the 100’s.
